Malawi Institute of Education is working towards the final processes to ensure that the Museum of Education is opened soon. The Museum will be the first of its kind in Malawi to document the history of education and display historical education artifacts. .
The Director of Research, Planning and Policy Studies, Dr Tionge Saka disclosed that some artifacts were collected from various education institutions and showcases were constructed in the Museum gallery. Currently they are working on developing texts and labels to accompany the artifacts in displays.
The Executive Director for MIE has since urged the Department to work tirelessly and bring out the unique experiences towards development of good texts which shall speak well to the audience. “Make sure that the museum become the fountain of knowledge and information that shall be relevant to the future generation”, said Dr Mtemang’ombe during the opening ceremony of Museum texts and labels development activity. Dr Mtemang’ombe pointed out that showcasing historical elements in Malawian education shall help to inform the future generation of what was in the past thereby being able to tell prospective areas of improvement in our education system.
On his part, Mr Yohane Nyirenda, Deputy Director of Museum and Monuments assured commitment by the Department to MIE to achieve the best standards in museum development.
