MIE Advances Innovative Teaching Through TALULAR Training

The Malawi Institute of Education under the Teacher Development Unit, this week has been  conducting and hosting a Teaching and Learning Using Locally Available Resources (TALULAR), capacity building programme. The training has engaged 48 primary school teachers from the South West Education Division, South East Division, and Shire Highlands Education Division.

The training aims to address challenges related to limited teaching and learning resources, including books and other instructional materials. Through TALULAR, teachers are equipped with skills to creatively use locally available resources to support visual, practical, and learner-centred teaching.

The participating teachers represent various zones from different districts within the three divisions and are expected to cascade the knowledge and skills acquired to fellow teachers upon returning to their respective zones, thereby widening the programme’s reach and impact.

MIE remains committed to strengthening teaching and learning practices in Malawi’s primary schools through innovative and sustainable approaches.
