Held from 27th to 29th April, the training was facilitated by experts from the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU). The programme focused on equipping participants with practical leadership skills, fostering collaboration, and enhancing their capacity to effectively serve the institution.

Speaking during the official opening of the training, Acting Executive Director Mr. Jennings Kayira highlighted the timeliness and significance of the initiative. He emphasized that effective leadership transcends authority, underscoring the importance of influence, accountability, and the ability to inspire others.
Encouraging participants to actively engage in the sessions, Mr. Kayira said:
“This platform offers an opportunity to reflect on your leadership practices, learn from one another, and develop practical strategies that will strengthen your effectiveness as a team.”

The Debuty Director for MCTU, Mrs. Jessy Ching’oma who also facilitated alongside Mr. Njiwa commended MIE for taking this crucial initiative into practice while emphasising on the importance of these trainings for the union. Throughout the training, participants took part in interactive discussions, practical exercises, and team-building activities designed to promote cooperation, mutual understanding, and improved performance in their respective roles.
