Curriculum Specialists Trained in Zorin OS to Strengthen ICT Integration

The Malawi Institute of Education (MIE) successfully conducted a one-day capacity-building training for its curriculum specialists on the Zorin Operating System (Zorin OS) on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, at the MIE Hall.

The workshop was facilitated by the K2 Tigwiranemanja AIDS Support Organisation (K2 TASO) and aimed at enhancing the skills of MIE staff in using alternative operating systems. The training also focused on improving their ability to assess curriculum resources for compatibility with emerging digital technologies.

K2 TASO, an organisation based in Kasungu District, continues to play a significant role in promoting quality education through ICT support services, solar energy solutions, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes for teachers in Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs).

During the session, participants were introduced to the key features, functions, and applications of Zorin OS a user-friendly Linux-based platform designed to provide a smooth transition for users familiar with Windows systems. The hands-on training created an opportunity for knowledge sharing and practical learning, reinforcing MIE’s commitment to integrating technology into curriculum development and delivery.

This collaboration underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing digital transformation within Malawi’s education sector and ensuring that curriculum specialists are equipped to respond to evolving technological needs.
