
From 14th July, the Malawi Institute of Education (MIE) is hosting a 3-week National Mathematics Curriculum Reform (NMRC) training for first cohort of master trainers, aimed at training standard 1-2 teachers across the country on the reviewed national mathematics curriculum. With funding from Prevail Fund and technical support from Pamodzi Education and Chemonics International, this training will reinforce efforts to improve Malawi’s education system.
This training builds on the previous training of 20 national trainers which was done 3 weeks ago at MIE in Domasi. The current training is targeting over two hundred master of trainers from all the regions of the country. The workshop will be done in three phases.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Acting Executive Director, Mr. Jennings Kayira, reaffirmed the importance of this initiative in strengthening teachers’ capacity in delivering mathematics lessons effectively.

Mr. Kayira further urged all the master trainers to be competent and confident during the workshop to achieve the initiative’s goal of laying a strong base for lifelong learning and national development
